Done Is Better Than Perfect (Seriously, Just Hit Send)
Perfectionism.
It sounds like a humblebrag, right?
“Oh, I’m just such a perfectionist.”
Like it's a badge of honor.
But let’s call it what it really is: a trap.
Where It Actually Comes From
Perfectionism isn’t about high standards—it’s about fear.
It’s a survival mechanism left over from when making a mistake could literally get you kicked out of the tribe. And back then, being ostracized meant being eaten by something with large teeth. So yes, perfection felt necessary.
But let me remind you:
We are no longer in mortal danger if we flub a sentence, post a slightly blurry photo, or release something with gasp room for improvement.
Here’s the Reality: Done Beats Perfect. Every Time.
We hold ourselves back waiting for the “perfect moment,” the perfect draft, the perfect take.
Want to know how many takes I did on this message? One.
Why? Because it doesn’t have to be perfect. It just has to be out the door.
You’re never going to stop wondering if it could be better. And I’m here to tell you: It absolutely could.
But that’s not the point.
The point is:
You said the thing.
You made the move.
You took the shot.
You got it out into the world.
That’s what matters.
What Happens When You Let Go of Perfect?
Magic.
You start finishing things.
You start sharing things.
You start trusting yourself to show up as you are, not as some filtered, flawless version of yourself.
And that is way more powerful—and way more real—than perfect could ever be.
So this is your reminder from me, Katie Clancy, real estate badass and recovering perfectionist:
Done is better than perfect.
Always has been.
Always will be.
Now go hit send.
